Superior Plumbing and Heating (SPH) is the lead company of the Superior Group family of companies. SPH is a leading commercial mechanical contractor located in Anchorage, Alaska that performs contracts statewide and has been in business in Alaska since 1964. The Superior Group also includes our sister companies Alaska Sheet Metal (ASM) and Haakenson Electric (HE), Superior Mechanical Services (SMS), and Support Services of Alaska (SSA). Alaska Sheet Metal provides commercial HVAC contracting expertise and also has a state-of-the-art sheet metal shop located on Post Road in Anchorage. Haakenson Electric is a full-service electrical contractor that also performs control wiring for many of the projects built by SPH and ASM. Superior Mechanical Services provides term contract maintenance service for commercial buildings and also supports many of SPH projects with startup and maintenance during warranty. Support Services is a professional engineering group with expertise in design, drafting and commissioning activities. SPH has built projects for private clients, Municipal, State and Federal government agencies. We have built single projects with mechanical scopes that exceeded $30 million and we have several projects where the mechanical scopes have exceeded $10 million. SPH does extensive medical offices, hospitals, office buildings, schools, hotels, and has successfully built unique one-of-a-kind projects like the Goose Creek Correctional Center, Alaska Sealife Center and Anchorage Fish Hatchery. We also build remote power plants and numerous structures in remote villages in Alaska including schools and fish processing plants. Superior Plumbing and Heating has the in-house resources to support a robust design-build process in close coordination with general contractors and other specialty contractors. In addition, our fabrication shop continues to grow and improve production capabilities through acquisition of state of the art technology and cutting edge production techniques.

Superior Plumbing and Heating has an excellent relationship and record of performance allowing us the ability to provide substantial bonding capacity to our General Contractors and Owners. SPH is employee-owned and currently employs approximately 100 people. We are union affiliated with Local 367 and have a longstanding and strong working relationship with the union. Our sister companies employ another 40-50 people and together we provide turn-key mechanical services to our clients. We are proud of each project we build, and we believe that the relationships we create with the Owners and Construction Managers are an important part of doing business.
