Superior Plumbing and Heating (SPH) is the lead company of The Superior Group family of companies. SPH is a leading commercial mechanical contractor located in Anchorage, Alaska performing contracts statewide since 1964. The Superior Group includes sister companies Alaska Sheet Metal (ASM), Haakenson Electric (HE), Superior Mechanical Services (SMS), and Support Services of Alaska (SSA). ASM provides commercial HVAC contracting expertise and a state-of-the-art sheet metal shop located on Post Road in Anchorage. Haakenson is a full-service electrical contractor that also performs control wiring for many of the projects built by SPH and ASM. Superior Mechanical Services provides term contract maintenance service for commercial buildings and supports SPH and ASM projects with startup and maintenance. Support Services is a professional engineering group with expertise in mechanical design, drafting and commissioning activities. SPH builds projects for private clients and Municipal, State and Federal agencies. We have built single projects with mechanical scopes that exceeded $30 million and several projects where the mechanical scopes have exceeded $10 million. SPH builds medical offices, hospitals, office buildings, schools, hotels, and has successfully built unique one-of-a-kind projects like the Goose Creek Correctional Center, Alaska Sealife Center and Anchorage Fish Hatchery. We build remote power plants and facilities in remote villages including schools and fish processing plants. Superior Plumbing and Heating has the in-house resources to support a robust design-build process in close coordination with general contractors and other subcontractors. Our fabrication shop boasts superior capabilities with state of the art technology and cutting edge production techniques.

SPH is employee-owned and currently employs approximately 100 people. We are union affiliated with Local 367 Plumbers and Pipefitters and have a strong working relationship with the union. Our sister companies employ another 50-60 people and together we provide turn-key mechanical services to our clients. We are proud of each project we build, and we believe that the relationships we create with the Owners and Contractors are an important part of doing business.
